The Adam Smith Institute presents its CONGRESS “AGRIBUSINESS IN UKRAINE”, which will take place on 31 March – 1st of April 2009 in Kyiv!

THE Adam Smith UKRAINIAN AGRIBUSINESS CONGRESS comprises of an intensive 2-day programme, dedicated to the discussion of the sector’s most promising segments, legislative regulation and initiatives (including regulation of land), as well as financing in the time of global market turmoil, strategies to increase capitalisation and profitability.

The Congress is also a platform for senior executives and owners of agrarian companies, government representatives, foreign and Ukrainian investors, importers and exporters of agricultural products, manufacturers and suppliers of technology, fertiliser, seeds, and other Ukrainian and international industry players to come together.

Event highlights:

  • Session for CEOs of Agrarian Holdings, dedicated to Growth strategies of agrarian companies in 2009-2010.  During this session, managers of leading agrarian holdings will analyse industry potential and discuss which areas will see the biggest growth and potential , talk about their experience in increasing efficiency and cost management,  and discuss “the pros and cons” of the vertically integrated model
  • Аnalytical Session, dedicated to  Strategies to increase capitalisation and market share. During the course of this session, the participants will evaluate the sector’s development trends, including the outlook for consolidation of the Ukrainian agrisector. There will be practical case studies of companies which have conducted IPOs or private placements, and an appraisal of the necessary preparations (due diligence), as well as the shifts in strategy and development that followed.
  • Financial Session, dedicated to Raising debt capital and arranging debt finance. This session will see financiers and senior management of agrarian companies discussing transparency standards, sharing their views on the effect of turmoil in the global financial markets and how it will effect investments in the agrisector, and much more. There will also be a special focus presentation, that will give an insight into an investor’s viewpoint. An investor will outline the selection criteria when choosing the investment target.
  • SPECIAL FOCUS GROUPS in round table format, dedicated to the following segments: sugar industry, dairy industry, oil and liquor industries, cattle & poultry, grain, biofuel and horticultural segment. This format will allow the discussion of particular issues, taking into account the specifics of each industry segment.
  •  “From field to the point of sale” session, which will take place on 1st of April, and will feature the discussion of issues related to the INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE AGRARIAN SECTOR
